Africa resists the single "safari trip" label most travelers arrive with, because the continent covers ancient monuments, coastal medinas, equatorial rainforest, and open savanna, often with only a few hours of flight time separating destinations that feel like different worlds entirely. Tanzania's Serengeti runs on the rhythm of the Great Migration, roughly 1.5 million wildebeest moving in a year-long loop. Egypt, a few hours north by air, holds monuments that predate most of recorded history by millennia. Morocco's medinas and Sahara dunes sit at the continent's northwestern edge, closer culturally to the Mediterranean than to sub-Saharan Africa.
